Rathfinny Wine Estate is a family-owned Sussex wine grower and producer, established in 2010 by Mark and Sarah Driver. Located on a wonderful south-facing slope in England’s South Downs, the climate, chalk soil and aspect make it the perfect site for growing grapes for world-class sparkling wine.
Their low-intervention, traditional method Sussex Sparkling wines are a true expression of our terroir. Produced from hand-harvested grapes that are whole-bunch pressed and bottled aged on the lees to develop rich, autolytic notes, with a low dosage that emphasises the purity of our fruit.
Often referred to as the vintage of the decade, 2018 was one of the warmest summers on record. A mini-heatwave developed from April onwards, encouraging early flowering and the dry weather promoted good fruit set. New temperature records were set in July and August and despite heavy rain in early September, the weather during harvest in October was very favourable. During harvest, very clean fruit was picked with an ideal balance of sugars and acidity.
