The Fèvre family can trace their winemaking roots back to 1745 with many of their ancestors working as vignerons, wine nurserymen and even coopers. Gilles Fèvre’s Great-grandfather became a founding member of a cooperative named La Chablisienne in 1923. The family committed their entire harvests to this cooperative for nearly a century, however Gilles and Nathalie decided in 2003 to release wine under their own label and have been rewarded with critical acclaim ever since. The family’s long winemaking heritage continues with Nathalie and Gilles’ daughter Julie, who obtained her Diplôme d’ingénieur Agronome at École d’Ingénieur de PURPAN and her Diplôme National d’œnologue at Université de Bourgogne, Dijon, following in her parents closely. Her unique perspective will surely make ripples in the domaine and here at Corkage we’re watching this space with great anticipation.
The Fèvre family have worked sustainably for over 20 years and operate a simple and efficient vineyard. Nowadays they produce some of the purest Chablis available with a focus on terroir and the region’s famous chalky minerality. The grapes are planted on high plains or steep slopes in classic limestone-rich soils, and these beautiful conditions lend a helping hand in producing this top notch Chablis.
