Travel the wine world for under £80!

We're all a bit fed up of not being able to travel, so we've come up with a case of 6 wines from across the globe for under £80. Verdeca ‘Talò’ 2020, San Marzano, Puglia £10.00 This is a bone-dry Verdeca which shows a richness of aromatics, white flowers, crisp green apple and a hint of honey. Full flavoured, with a creamy texture and a long and intense finish. Faultline Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Marlborough, New Zealand £13.00 This typical Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc offers peapods, gooseberry and asparagus with a fresh and herbaceous flavour. Ideal for a glass or two or it works well with food. Adega de Pegões ‘Selected Harvest White’ 2020 Península de Setúbal £10.00 This is a full flavoured wine with fruity aromas of orange blossom, ginger and ripe fruits which work in harmony with the oak spice. Rich and opulent on the palate with a creamy vanilla spice, it has a persistent, elegant finish. Beck Ink 2020, Weingut Judith Beck, Burgenland, Austria £15.00 A rewarding natural red wine that is very fragrant, light in tannin and has good acid balanced – it’s a delicious crisp red, and the wine holds a beautiful red-violet color. Rioja Crianza Rivallana 2018 Ondarre, Rioja, Spain £12.00 Spicy fruit aromas are complemented by subtle notes of vanilla from oak ageing. Savoury and ripe fruit flavours combine on the palate resulting in a traditional Rioja style. Malbec Le Pur Fruit du Causse 2019, Cahors, France £15.25 Bright, intense purple colour, recognisably Malbec with bramble fruit and grip, yet at just 12.5% alcohol it’s a genuine vin de soif – even for serving slightly chilled in warmer summer months. Radically brilliant.
  • Bergerac Blanc, Moulin des Dames, Château Tour des Gendres 2017 £26

Unctuous and superbly rich and full-bodied, this is a very ripe expression of a barrel aged Sauvignon Blanc from the Bergerac region of the south of France.

Complex with flavours of apricot and citrus, it would be perfect with fish in a creamy sauce, shellfish or blue cheese.

  • Calcarius Roz Rosato 2019 A stunning Rosato from Valentina Passalacqua - a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture based in Puglia. Vibrant and textural, this wine sings of wild strawberries, crunchy red berries and gently pressed rosemary.
  • Chianti Classico DOCG Monte Bernardi 'Retromarcia' 2018 Enticingly fragrant, this offers inviting aromas of violet, perfumed berry and a whiff of pipe tobacco. Made with organically grown grapes, the palate offers sour cherry and star anise alongside lithe tannins. Vibrant acidity keeps it balanced and focused.
  • Marlborough is a dry, sunny viticultural region, situated at the north eastern tip of the South Island, New Zealand.  Consisting of two parallel valleys, the Wairau and the Awatere, it stretches along the Pacific Coast. The vines grow in mixed alluvial soils, which are geologically young and have been distributed along the valley's floors by the Wairau and Awatere rivers. This typical Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc offers peapods, gooseberry and asparagus with a fresh and herbaceous flavour. Ideal for a glass or two or it works well with food.
  • L'Hurluberlu Cabernet Franc Sébastien David 2020 A wild and honest Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley, juicy bramble fruit, natural cola aromas and refreshingly clean acidity. This wine is nothing if not unique.
  • Bertie Coetzee represents the sixth generation of his family to farm Lowerland, on the banks of the Orange River near Prieska in the Northern Cape. Lovely red apple skin and fresh bread aromas followed by a stone fruit component and some ginger spice on the nose.
  • Momento Mori Staring at the Sun 2019

A vibrant blend of Italian varietals, a fantastic bouquet of flowers and tangerines gives way to golden kiwi, yuzu, ginger spice and lightly toasted almonds on the finish. Unbelievably refreshing thanks to a slight sparkle married with mouth-watering acidity. You won’t have had a skin-contact wine like this before, unique and gorgeous.

  • Montenidoli, Vernaccia di San Gimignano 'Fiore' 2018 £26

Elisabetta Fagiuoli and her husband Sergio founded their 50 hectare winery in 1965, on a hillside across the valley from the picturesque Tuscan town of San Gimignano. Montenidoli means "mountain of little nests".
With a nose of cucumber, lemon and white flowers, the wine is vibrant on the palate with bright, crisp, stony minerality accompanied by flavours of green apple and lemongrass. Perfectly balanced, with a delicate acidity and a clean finish.
  • Neck of the Woods 'Madhouse' Pinot Gris 2020 Crunchy pear, elderflower, lemon zest and vanilla bean on the nose with more citrus notes to follow on the palate. White blossom and refined stone fruit on the front palate leads to a finely textured mid palate that finishes long and fresh. An outstanding expression of Pinot Gris.
  •   An organic, fresh Muscat with fantastic stone fruit flavours backed up by long acidity and a floral nose. Honey, lychee and white grape with a peach and almond tart finish.
